April, 2002, Tulsa SDC meet, best of show, overall. I had always been told that a modified car could not win best of show at an SDC event. Minds are opening. <G> |

| This is it! The highest honor a Studebaker can achieve. This was awarded at the Studebaker drivers club international meet in South Bend, IN. Out of a possible 400 points, the car achieved 391 points. Not bad for a 5 year old restoration, and for a car that drove there and back. The "best in division" car in my class earned 399 points. It's tires have not seen the road, just a garage floor, trailer floor, and the show field. It does a man's heart good! |

|
This was sent to me by my friend Pekka Polvinen of Helsinki, Finland. He covered the 2002 International meet in South Bend for Swedish Wheels Magazine. Included in his article was this picture, and these comments. Thanks, Pekka! This is how 'Sheba came to be, "Internationally Renowned." |

(Sheba) I missed one bug when I detailed the car... the ladies found it! |

|
The infamous "hard luck" award. actually reads, "hard cash for hard luck." there is some change in the container, but not enough. -¿Ö I guess this would be Goliath's, since he is the one that didn't make the meet. |

|
awarded because goliath didn't make the trip, after only 9 months of effort. "his" gear shift lever broke off in my hand as I was backing the truck up to the trailer, in order to load the car, in an effort to get them both to the meet. |

'Sheba,
first place, Goliath second place... 42nd International Studebaker
Driver's Club meet, Omaha, NEB. Sept. 25-29,
'06. The meet theme was, "trucking to Omaha," so
it was only right that Goliath give 'Sheba a ride there and
back. (in fairness to my friend Dick Stiencamp, he broke an accelerator cable on that run.) (I was not going to run anything but Chevy powered Studes, but this little super charged Avanti lined up against me, so we ran. Probably a good thing we didn't have another 1/8 mile to go, the super charger may have spooled up by then. <G>) Then, they let
us run around the road race course... as these two cars were starting
their race, you can see 'Sheba passing by on the road course. Man, we had some fun! |
