The STILLWATER R/C FLYERS is a model aircraft club made up of a diverse cross section of Stillwater, and area residents. We have members with over 40 years experience in modeling, as well as beginners. Individual interests include sport flying, gliders, scale models, ducted fans, electric powered models, helicopters, pylon racing, slope soaring, rubber powered models, aerobatics, and drones.
Club membership allows use of the club flying field. Members share in the maintenance, minimizing the amount of work for a given individual.
Monthly meetings give members an opportunity to display their latest aircraft and exchange building techniques with others.
Our club members can offer advice and help on any type of model, building technics, flying, and finishing methods.
There are several flight instructors to aid beginners in preparing and flying their first aircraft. Club members can offer expert advice on model selection, construction, engine and radio selection. Experienced R/C pilots can test fly, trim, and advise you on your radio controlled model airplane.
Club meetings are on the third Thursday of each month. Summer meetings are held at the flying field. Winter meetings are held at an indoor site (see contacts for further information).
At summer meetings, we have 'fun-fly' events such as spot landing, balloon bust, timed flight, touch-n-go's, bomb drop, limbo and new events are in the planning stage.
At the winter meetings, we talk about the latest building projects of club members, watch the latest videos of modeling activities and fly indoor rubber band powered airplanes. These meetings are a great place to get ideas for your next building project and advice on how to improve your construction techniques.
At least once each summer, we have a cookout at the flying field, where we socialize, eat, and fly.
We have informal flying sessions on weekend afternoons throughout the year and members can use the field at any time.
The club's flying field is located 12 miles east of Stillwater and 3.2 miles north. See the link below for more information on the flying field. Spectators are welcome anytime. Guests are welcome at meetings, but flying is limited to AMA members only for insurance reasons.

Also, you must display your AMA card or a facsimile while flying your model airplane or drone at the Flying Field.
To fly within the National Airspace System (NAS), under the Exception for Limited Recreational Operations of model aircraft under Federal law, you must register with the FAA. The fee is $5 for a three year period. To find out more about this process visit the FAA web site at the FAA Drone Zone. Have an electronic or paper copy of this registration with you at all times while you are flying your model airplane or drone.
What is TRUST? The Federal law requires that all recreational flyers pass an aeronautical knowledge and safety test and provide proof of passage if asked by law enforcement or FAA personnel. The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) was developed to meet this requirement.
TRUST provides education and testing on important safety and regulatory information. If you fly your drone recreationally under the Exception for Recreational Flyers, you must pass the test before you fly.
TRUST was developed in collaboration with drone stakeholders to determine content, and how it would be administered. Since June 2021, we have worked with a group of approved Test Administrators to provide TRUST as an online test. We in the FAA provide the TRUST content to the approved test administrators who, in turn, provide the online test to you, the recreational flyer.
The Academy of Model Aeronautics ia an approved Test Administrator by the FAA for the TRUST Test. This link will take you to the AMA web site where the Test can be administered. TRUST Test at AMA. There is no charge for this test.
Maintain a copy of your TRUST Test Certificate in an electronic or paper format and have it with you at all times while you are flying your model airplane or drone. If this certificate is lost, then you will have to retake the test. The AMA or FAA cannot supply you with another copy of the original Certificate.
The Test is very easy and the website will guide you in finding the correct answers to the test questions.
